About the Band

Some Kind of Infernal Machine is a quartet playing Gothic Americana originals and covers on keyboard, guitar, bass, electric ukulele and electric banjo.

Musical influences include Tom Waits, Nick Cave, and Chelsea Wolfe. Non-musical influences include New England folklore and the D&D Monster Manual. The band has charismatic energy and a local fan base that never fails to enthusiastically turn out for shows.

Some Kind of Infernal Machine is versatile in terms of mood and sound. They can play cathartic, hard-rocking ballads for a pub night, spooky dirges for a gothic folk show, or they can provide a more upbeat and amusing set.

Music Demos

Professional recordings are in the works for summer 2024, but in the meantime the demos here are room recordings from either rehearsals or live shows.

Lyrics to all of the band’s originals can be found at skoim.com/lyrics

An excerpt from the band’s live stream show during the pandemic. (They pre-quarantined and COVID-tested beforehand for safety).

This is a lighthearted song about the adorable Catbus from the Studio Ghibli film My Neighbor Totoro, written collaboratively over quarantine. Keep an eye out for the very special musical instrument! More videos can be found through the Twitch and YouTube links above.
